Meet Your Farmers, Brett and Candice
S&P Farm was founded in 2018 as a result of our passion for growing fresh fruits and vegetables. We started growing fruits and vegetables for ourselves, and shared any over production with our family, friends, and co-workers. We started learning about how to do it better, produce higher yields, and take better care of our soil. This resulted in an even more productive backyard garden.
We follow the likes of Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm, Eliot Coleman of Four Season Farm, Conor Crickmore of Neversink Farm, Curtis Stone of Green City Acres, JM Fortier of La Ferme des Quatre-Temps, Charles Downing of Homeacres Farm, and last but not least Richard Perkins of Ridgedale Permaculture. These folks and more are the inspiration for what we want to bring to Colorado. More information about each of these folks below.
I was born and raised in Colorado Springs, CO. I am a jack of all trades and hoping to master several of them.
I work for Maxar Technologies where I am a solution engineer/architect. I love how challenging the work can be and how every day brings a new adventure.
I am also an Army Reservist and currently waiting to attend Warrant Officer Candidate School to begin the next leg of my Army career as a Warrant Officer.
Now I am embarking on this new adventure of farming, and am so excited! I have been growing produce since my return from deployment in 2011 and have enjoyed every minute of it!
I enjoy running, weight lifting, adventure racing, and learning.
I currently hold several physical fitness certifications, several agile certifications, and a certification in product development.
I was born and raised in Murray, Utah. My first job was pulling salt-water taffy and twisting rosettes into homemade caramel. After moving to Colorado when I was 18, I began to explore the outdoors much more. I mean, who couldn't? I grew up always having cats in the house, and now is no different. I have six "kids" (two cats and four chickens).
Becoming a farmer feels like it has been my calling all along. I love the early days, watching the sunrise with my husband and tackling a hard day's work by his side. Equally, my down time is enjoyable. Whether it's reading, playing video games or my creative photography pursuit, it helps me decompress and relax.
The majority of the photography on this website was taken by me.
These are the farmers and leaders that we follow and have learned from. We continue to read their books and follow them on YouTube and other channels.
We continue to expand our learning and development through various books, periodicals, podcasts, and e-news letters.
